No Comments, leave one »This is the second view from the clock tower of the Ministry of Finance building. Listen to the sounds of the city as you view the historic colonial architecture in the inner city of Paramaribo from above. Parts of the city were added to the Unesco World Heritage List in 2002. Don’t forget to zoom in on the J.A. Wijdenbosch bridge across the Suriname river in the distance, which connects Paramaribo to the district of Commewijne. Also prominently visible is the St. Peter and Paul cathedral, a large wooden Roman Catholic cathedral in the center of the city. It’s the largest wooden building in South America, and the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paramaribo.
You also get a good view of the Independence Square (Onafhankelijkheidsplein) with the Presidential Palace on the left and the Parliament Building (the National Assembly) across the square.
