This second panorama from the Jules Albert Wijdenbosch bridge gives you a great view to the south of the Suriname river. Hear the sound of strong winds as you stand 52 meters (171 ft.) high atop the bridge enjoying the view late in the afternoon. On the right you can see the district of Paramaribo and on the left the district of Commewijne.
The bridge, named after President Jules Albert Wijdenbosch (1996–2000), was completed in the year 2000 and is 1,504 meters (4,934 ft.) long. It consists of two lanes and is not accessible to pedestrians, although clearly that doesn’t stop people from walking across from time to time. 🙂 Whatever you do, don’t look down.
